From 26th to 28th April 2016, professor Jukka Alava gave several lectures at the University of Zadar. The lectures were held in cycles of two hours according to the respective topics.

The sessions held on 26th April, 2016:

  1.  The roles and qualifications of school leaders in Finland (L1)
  2.  Preparatory education and continuous development of school leaders (L1)
  3.  The pedagogical solutions and different programs in the Institute of Educational Leadership in the University of Finland (L2)
  4.  Q&A (L2)
  5. Future challenges for school leaders and leader competencies & broad pedagogical leadership; theory and practice (L2)
  6. Work-shop; reflections to Croatia

The lectures were attended by a total of 28 participants.

The sessions held on 27th April, 2016:

  1. Two cases of leadership training:
    – Cognitive styles and Strategic Learning Cycle (focuses on interaction, team dynamics and understanding change) (L3)
    – Future orientation and strategic thinking (emphasizes future orientation in addition to daily activities – both for schools and universities) (L3)
  2. Work-shop; reflections to Croatia, possible collaboration
  3. “Quality is not accidental”; experiences from building an academic institute and academic discipline of educational leadership. (Propositions of high quality – If you
    were to found an institute …) (L4)

The lectures were attended by a total of 28 participants.

The sessions held on 28th April, 2016:

  1. From Nation Building to Future Creation; case Finland – the role of education and educational leadership in developing Finland; a personal historical take (L5)

Along with university professors, undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Zadar attended this lecture, making up a total of 70 participants.
